Diabetes Drugs and Medications

People with diabetes are often treated with diabetes medication, that is also sometimes referred to as anti-diabetic drugs. The medication is usually taken orally but there are some that are injected directly into the blood.

A lot of diabetes medication are developed for and prescribed to people with type 2 diabetes who have difficulty in controlling their blood sugar levels through diet and exercise. However, there are some that are used to treat people with type 1 diabetes in conjunction with insulin.

Each drug is works in its own way in helping to keep the condition under control. Diabetes medication is grouped in classes, so ones that work in a similar way are in the same class.
