Diabetes drugs have been related to the risk of pancreatic cancer .
A new study shows that the diabetes drug metformin caused fewer cases of pancreatic cancer in women. However, other diabetes medications are related to an increased risk of the disease.
The differences in medication history amongst those people who did or did not develop pancreatic cancer were slight researchers have stated. However, it is not clear as to the reason why the drugs can affect cancer risks in men and women differently.
Still, this new finding goes along with previous research which suggests that metformin can reduce the risk of multiple cancers .
The majority of researchers in this field have stated that metformin is the oldest drug for diabetics we have, as well as being the best drug known for diabetes .
