Medical researchers from Devon are going to be involved in a €45m (£37m) European project related to type 2 diabetes research.
The Peninsular College of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Exeter and Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital are going to be researching and analysing samples.
It is anticipated that the project, incorporating 21 academic institutions throughout Europe, will mean improved treatment for diabetics .
The Direct (Diabetes Research for patient stratification) project's aim is to develop personalised treatment for diabetics .
The research aims to categorise different types of type 2 diabetes, their causes and how they may respond to various treatments.
