Milk Helps to Keep Type 2 Diabetes At Bay

Thu, 15 Sep 2011
Gone are the days in the UK when milk was distributed for free in British schools.

New research highlights some startling findings that show that teenagers who drink milk are 43 per cent less likely to suffer from type 2 diabetes when adults.

Researchers have discovered that teenagers who drink milk are likely to be milk drinking adults; a healthy habit that enables them to combat type 2 diabetes better than non-milk drinkers.

The Harvard University study monitored teenage and adult food intake patterns, including milk drinking and consumption of milk products, and the risks to health in more than 37,000 women.

Researchers uncovered that women, who drank the most milk as adults and ate the most milk products as teenagers, were less like to become type 2 diabetic than those who consistently ate little dairy.
