366 Million Diabetics in the World

There are presently 366 million diabetics worldwide.

This condition kills a person every seven seconds and places a huge financial challenge to healthcare systems all over the world.

Most diabetics have Type 2 diabetes, commonly associated with poor diets, obesity and inadequate exercise.

The problem is of course exacerbated due to western lifestyles.

Diabetics do not have adequate blood sugar contol, which can trigger serious health problems, such as, heart disease, strokes, kidney or nerve damage and blindness.

There are 4.6 million deaths across the world as a result of diabetes per annum.

Urgent action is needed on an international basis to reverse this growing trend..

There is going to be a high-level United Nations meeting in New York on September 19 and 20 to consider what can be done to stem the ever increasing problem of non-communicable diseases, including diabetes.

Food, drinks and tobacco companies are going to be slammed for selling products associated with heart disease, cancer and diabetes .
