Medics Consider Mood Disorders Negatively Affect Diabetes Care

Wed, 02 Nov 2011
A study of more than 5,000 clinicians by QuantiaMD, the biggest American mobile and online medical community, investigates the key challenges to diabetes patient care .

Within the study, clinicians focus on the huge impact of mood disorders on the motivation of diabetics .

Nearly 90% of clinicians state that mood disorders affect their diabetic patients' self care.

Over 56% report that at least 25 per cent of their patients have a mood disorder like depression, with 13 per cent stating that over 50 per cent of their patients have a mood disorder.

Mood disorders frequently underlie patients' failure to make follow-up appointments, manage medications and stick to referral appointments.

QuantiaMD is working alongside its Diabetes Special Interest Group to enable clinicians address these issues amongst others, via educational content, dialogue and collaboration.
