Recent research confirms that lazy cooks and takeaway lovers who have two takeaway meals or more per week are increasing their risk of developing diabetes.

The remaining 90 per cent of diabetics are affected by type 2 diabetes, which is related to a poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle.

The American study evaluated the dietary and exercise habits of 1,896 men and women.

40 per cent of men and 20 per cent of women had takeaways twice a week or more.

The study highlighted that women who consume two takeaways or more a week had higher blood sugar levels than the women who had one or less a week.

Furthermore, men also displayed increased blood sugar levels however the effect was lesser than that on women.

The women who ate two takeaways or more per week became more insulin resistant, which can trigger type 2 diabetes .
