Being diabetic and aged over sixty increases the risk of breast cancer risk in women by 60 per cent.

These are the findings of new research which shows that high blood lipids are less frequent among patients diagnosed with breast cancer, while low blood lipids are related to an increased risk of breast cancer.

Swedish researchers considered overall incidence of cancer and found that the use of a diabetes drug was linked to a lesser rate of any cancer, whereas, another was associated with an increased risk of cancer.

The research involved evaluation of health care data of 1.5 million Swedes, providing a full picture of cancer risk.

The research highlighted that diabetes in adult women and obesity in women aged 60 and above considerably increased breast cancer risk.

The findings are incredibly helpful as they enable women to help themselves.

Further data showed that obesity in women age 60 plus increased the risk of developing breast cancer by 55 per cent.

Female diabetics had a 37 per cent increased risk of developing breast cancer if their diabetes had been diagnosed up to four years prior to the cancer diagnosis.
