No decision has yet been reached regarding free prescription plans for individuals with chronic conditions, such as, diabetes .
The Government has recently announced that the decision regarding a review of prescription charge exemptions is going to be made late autumn or early winter 2010.
In September 2008 Gordon Brown announced that prescription charge exemption would be extended to all those with chronic conditions in England over the following few years.
Exemption from payment of prescription charges would be welcomed by individuals with chronic conditions.
The review is going to recommend a broad definition of chronic conditions including those whose long-term health condition is going to persist for a minimum of six months and where ongoing management is needed.
