Boston scientist researchers are claiming that a new genetic test can forecast your chances of living up to 100.

This latest research states that whether or not we make a 100 is due to genetics.

The Boston University researchers claim that the test can pinpoint those who can expexct an extra long life with 77% accuracy.

The test was designed after a major study into the genetic makeup of centenarians revealed that a collecitive of DNA variants can boost an individual's prospects of reaching a ripe old age.

Some of the genetic markers the scientists discovered relate to common, and potentially fatal, diseases, like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and dementia .

The American researchers investigating the genetic secrets for a longer life found that living beyond 100 frequntly runs in families.

Such famlies may share healthy lifestyles and a strong genetic background to exceptional longevity,

Longevity is dictated by a complicated interplay of lifestyle, genes and environmental factors, such as, diet, smoking, pollution and exercise . However, living past your mid-90s is said to be down to good genes.
