Cashew seed extract contains anti-diabetic properties, according to a recent study.
The study was undertaken by researchers at the University of Montreal and the Université de Yaoundé, in the Cameroon.
Diabetes occurs when an individual has high blood sugar due to the body not reacting well to insulin and/or not producing adequate insulin .
Cashew seed was the only extract which significantly stimulated blood sugar absorption by muscle cells during this study.
It has long been known that cashew tree products contain highly effective anti-inflammatory agents, which counter high blood sugar and combat prevent insulin resistance amongst diabetics .
The study validates the use of cashew tree products in diabetes and provides a direction for the creation of new oral therapies.
