New research suggests that adding almonds to your diet may help lower the risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease .
The study is a forerunner, one of the first of its kind to quantify prevention data, highlighting that eating almonds can help improve insulin sensitivity and reduce lower LDL- cholesterol levels in individuals who have prediabetes .
Researchers looked at the effects of consuming an almond-enriched diet on factors linked to the progression of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease in adults with prediabetes.
A four monthly almond-enriched diet demonstrated considerably improved LDL-cholesterol levels and measures of insulin sensitivity, high risk factors in terms of for heart disease and type 2 diabetes .
