Recent research says that it would be unadvisable for fast food restaurants to distribute statins to fight the effects of fatty food as this could encourage individuals to lead more unhealthy lives and raise the likelihood of individuals developing Type 2 diabetes .
A statin pill is said to offset the heightened risk to the heart caused by fat in a cheeseburger and a small milkshake. A cholesterol-lowering drug, costing a minimal 5p, could be distributed as are tomato ketchup sachets.
Statins decrease levels of bad cholesterol found in the blood and are prescribed to lower the risk of cardiovascular disease .

However, statins are not going to prevent the side effects resultant from excessive intake of fatty food, including obesity and Type 2 diabetes .
