Recent research has claimed a link between Type 2 diabetes and cancer .
Women with Type 2 diabetes have up to a 25 per cent higher risk of developing cancer than women who are not Type 2 diabetics .
However, men with diabetes do not appear to be at any greater risk.
The study, from Tel Aviv University Medical School, followed the development of 17,000 Type 2 diabetics .
In addition, the study uncovered that men with diabetes are less likely than men without the condition to develop prostate cancer . This signified that there was no increase in their overall cancer risk.
This study is suggestive that women with diabetes are at higher risk of cancer than non diabetic women .
