Recent research affirms that Type 2 diabetes drug Liraglutide may enable weight loss in obese people who are not suffering from diabetes .
The study monitored the impact Liraglutide has on bodyweight in obese people who have not got Type 2 diabetes.
This research was undertaken in 19 locations across Europe; 564 people participated, aged between 18 and 65 years with a BMI of between 30 and 40.
The participants adhered to a calorie-restricted diet and upped their physical activity as the trial progressed.
The study uncovered that participants on Liraglutide experienced more weight loss than those who were taking a placebo or the weight-loss drug Orlistat.
The findings established that Liraglutide increases the choice of treatments for Type 2 diabetics as it offers improved blood glucose control as well as weight loss.
Further research is needed to confirm the above findings.
